Description
Water- and silicone-free, The Ordinary’s Retinol 0.2% in Squalane features highly stable retinol, an ingredient that can reduce the appearance of ageing with impressive results. A powerhouse form of vitamin A, retinol encourages cell turnover, revealing healthier, softer skin while also tackling blemishes, dark spots and defying signs of ageing – including softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and uneven tone. Retinol can cause significant irritation, including redness and peeling – but many feel that its significant effects counterbalance this; The Ordinary recommends building your skin’s tolerance to retinol with lower concentrations such as this to minimise discomfort.

Apply a small amount to face in the PM as part of your skincare regimen, after water serums but before heavier treatments. Do not use with other retinoid treatments. Avoid unprotected solar exposure. Store in a cool, dry place.
Note: When pregnant or breastfeeding, it is recommended to avoid any skincare products containing retinoids such as formulations with Granactive Retinoid or Retinol.
Caution: Retinoids can make the skin more sensitive to UV radiation. Sun protection is particularly important when using retinoids. This product must not be used in conjunction with other retinoids including retinol or retinoic acid. This product is not a treatment for acne. Acne-prone skin may experience a temporary increase in acne during the first few weeks of using any form of retinoid including those used in this formulation.
Squalane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Retinol, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Hydroxymethoxyphenyl Decanone, BHT.

I started using this some weeks ago with Niacinamide and Hyaluronic acid. I started off once a week and then when I realized my skin does not react adversely, I switched to every night. I have not noticed any effect so far. But since I understand that it can take a retinol product weeks to show the result, I am not expecting anything miraculous to happen soon. The only thing is I noticed when I put this on after other water-based products I feel like everything else underneath peals off. Is that normal? Should I switch retinol to the first product of my pm routine?

I love this brand so much. This was the only retinol I was willing to try because I only feel safe with your products. I do not trust most brands in terms of ingredients, but you guys are so knowledgeable and are always sharing important details about skin in the comments that most brands would just ignore. Thanks for allowing me to discover all sorts of skincare products I otherwise would not have tried

I absolutely love this product. I was using a $50 retinol cream before this. I can say that this product from the ordinary gave me comparable results at a much better price point. When I have used up this bottle I am going to order the .5% . I experienced absoluty no irritation or peeling. I have recomended this product to everyone I know! If you use it properly you will not be disappointed!! This is a game changer!!

Love this product, I heard about this while watching (This Morning) so thought I did give it a go I have always looked after my skin using daily spf creams but have recently lost over 3 stone and noticed my skins elasticity and tone was changing, since using this I have noticed my skin feels smooth my pours are reduced, I have had so many compliments lately on my skin, I have recommended this product to clients, friends and family and they have all

Have used this for a week and it does not irritate my skin at all, so I am just going to go ahead and buy the 1%. It feels nice on the skin, the squalane oil is great

I was a bit worried about starting a retinol product as I heard it can be really irritating etc.. My skin is super prone to breakouts and large pores are an issue for me. I started off slow with retinol 0.2% in squalane once a week then moved to twice and three times a week.. The affect this product has on my skin is unreal. I wake up with glowing, smooth skin. My pores are super minimized and the squalane has caused zero issues with acne. It glides on soooo smooth and gets absorbed quickly. Absolutely love it and after I finish this bottle I will try graduating to the 0.5%

After I realized the Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion was no longer available in Canada, I reached out to the team at Deciem for a recommendation, and the Retinol .2% in Squalane was their suggestion. I really love this product. I have incredibly sensitive skin, so I was a little skeptical when it felt a little oily, but my skin absolutely LOVES this product. I have seen some great results including soft, smooth skin and great hydration. Definitely a go-to item in my skin care routine now!

I have atopic skin, i.e. suffer from chronic eczema, and it targets my face the worst during flare-ups. As such, I was hesitant on beginning a retinoid since it is already an irritant during the first stages. But, my eczema has already given me a forehead wrinkle at my young 20s, so it is a sign I should already start some form of anti-aging regimen since my condition speeds up the aging process

I am 2/3 of the way through one bottle that I’ve had for three months. I rotate every other day with the granactive emulsion. I use about 4 drops on my face plus a couple drops for my neck and hands and have experienced no problems at all with any irritation or dryness. I just ordered the 0.5% and noticed a slight bit of dryness but nothing too serious plus it tells me that it is working. I often put on the rosehip oil after, but I have also added NMF instead and noticed that it seems to help it absorb better. I took one star off because sometimes it does seem like it did not absorb completely even when using a small amount. I decided to take it slow with retinol as I have dry, relatively sensitive skin, and mild rosacea but I have seen an overall improvement since starting products from The Ordinary, especially the Niacinamide, NMF, and HA. I am glad that retinol is available at such a good price and in varying strengths.

I am 48 with oily skin, not prone to breakouts. After using the 0.2% in squalane every other night for several weeks, including on the skin around my eyes, I only had sensitivity a couple of times and no dryness or flaking. The one thing I noticed is that my skin LOVES squalane. After about 30 minutes it fully absorbs and in the morning my skin is baby soft.
