Mamonde is actually a brand that I don’t know much about, of course I’ve heard their name a lot but I still didn’t know much about them. I always think of their products having lots of floral components and concepts. I’ve also seen their name or products advertised in dramas, but usually when I’m watching a drama I don’t pay much attention to the products advertised. Lately I’ve been quite curious about their products and was debating which one to try until I saw that they had released a new line of BB creams.

They actually came out with three new BB creams, but I chose this one because according to Mamonde it is best suited for dry skin. Mamonde actually released these several months ago, but I was unsure if I should try this one or one of the other types. The fact that it comes in one shade – light beige, made me unsure too.

But the fact that it should be pink toned made me curious. All of the previous bb creams I’ve tried that are meant to have a pink undertone have been various shades of orange and yellow on me at least. So, you could say I partly tried this to see what kind of undertone it had and to see if it was also yellow/orange on me too. I was hopeful that Mamonde would prove me wrong and that I might even find a decent bb cream out of this experiment.

The Day Relief bb cream comes packaged in a cardboard box, which has no English on it except on the front. The bb cream comes in a slim plastic tube with a cap and a pump under it. The nozzle of the pump is quite small and round.

At first, I really liked the design and the ease of using a pump, but after a few uses I quickly realized its disadvantages. The problem with a pump is that there is always a little bit of bb cream left on the nozzle, and unless you wipe it on your hand/tissue/somewhere it ends up on the inside of the cap.
I mean, sure it’s not a huge issue, but it does look messy and the inside of the cap doesn’t look that appealing with bb cream smeared inside of it.

Of course, that might not be a problem for everyone and a pump is easy to use and great for controlling how much product you get out. The messiness doesn’t matter too much, I just need to get into the habit of wiping the tip of the nozzle before I close it.

The fragrance is just a kind of chemical smell like a laboratory smell. There isn’t any floral scent that I can smell from it. I don’t notice any scent unless I really try to smell it.

You can see in the swatch it’s darker than my arm and it actually looks quite yellow. Yet somehow on my face it’s a perfect match for me – it matches my neck perfectly. I guess I tend to put more on my arm when I swatch it, than the amount I use on my face? But also, my neck/face is darker than my arm (my arm basically is never exposed to sun or not for very long lol) so maybe that’s why it matches?

The undertone is pinkish and it is perfect for me. Usually I find most Korean bb creams run very yellow for me, and it’s really obvious if some of my bb cream gets wiped off during the day (I’m super clumsy so this happens often to me).

Also, with yellow bb creams some how I tend to get parts of my face that look really yellow and my skin just generally looks really weird in natural lighting. But Mamonde’s day relief bb cream doesn’t have any of these issues.

If it gets wiped off of my face, the color is so close to my natural skin that it’s not super obvious and I don’t have any weird yellow streaks either.

Mamonde’s bb cream says that it has SPF50 and PA+++, well I don’t really rely on a bb cream to offer the right sun protection especially when I only use a little of the bb cream. But the second and third ingredients are zinc oxide and titanium oxide, so it is possible that it has higher amounts of mineral sunscreen than some other bb creams.

But again, it’s not enough to go without sunscreen, but it might add a little protection or help boost your sunscreen? Although I can’t guarantee or say that with complete authority especially when I don’t know the percentage of zinc oxide and titanium oxide there is in this product.

After applying make-up base of finishing basic skin-care, gently and evenly apply the Luxury BB by sponge or hand.
